Bogota

Overview

Bogota is the capital city of Colombia with a population of over 8 million people. Less than 10% are born again believers. Not only is there a need for Christ in Bogota, but also in the rest of the country of 50 million inhabitants. Bogota is the gateway to the rest of the country as well as the gateway to the rest of South America. People in Bogota are open and receptive to the gospel.

Partners

In 2024, we began a partnership with two new church plants in the city of Bogota. We were invited by local church planters Rev. Alex Forbes (Iglesia Bautista Bethel) and Rev. Fernando Ortiz (Iglesia Jeruel). During our trip last year, we witness their passion to see the gospel advance through church planting. They express the need for partners to come alongside them to help train and encourage them in their church planting efforts. This year our desire is to return and support children’s outreach and offer encouragement to the congregations and pastors.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead a two-day children’s outreach VBS activities
  • Participate in a combine prayer and worship service with our two partner churches
  • Site-seeing. Visit the Museum of Gold and other beautiful sites.

San Andres Island

Overview

The beautiful Island of San Andrés (Pastor Edgardo’s hometown) is located 480 kilometers northwest from the coast of Colombia, 180 kilometers east from Central America, and 400 kilometers southwest from Jamaica. San Andres is famous for having one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, a blue sea that's also green, people brimming with friendliness, to name but a few of its charms.

Partners

Since 2023 and 2024, over 20 FBCEP missionaries have gone to serve in partnership with Mt Zion Baptist Church led by pastor Ricky Newball and with local Baptist churches in their evangelism & discipleship effort reaching and equipping the youth in four Island Natives’ High Schools (First Baptist, Philip Beekman, Brooks Hill, and Flowers Hill high schools). The Baptist churches located around these schools have extended invitation to continue supporting their long-term evangelism and discipleship process with the students as well as with children from several native churches.
