This trip is ideal for adults, young adults, and youth who desire to share the Gospel and serve alongside local ministry partners in Cusco, Peru. Team members should be prepared to work with children and youth, participate in evangelism and discipleship, distribute coats through the Coat Ministry, serve in indigenous communities, and assist with practical ministry projects, including light church improvements.

WHY CUSCO?
Cusco provides a strategic opportunity to engage indigenous Quechua communities and remote Andean villages where access to biblical discipleship and evangelical churches remains limited. Although Peru is largely considered a Christian nation, missiologists identify approximately 15 unreached people groups representing more than 210,000 people throughout the country. Through our partnership with John Michael Briceño and other local ministry leaders, FBCEP has developed meaningful relationships that allow us to support evangelism, discipleship, church revitalization, and church planting among indigenous communities with significant spiritual and economic needs.
OVERVIEW & SCOPE
Since 2021, First Baptist Church El Paso has partnered with John Michael Briceño in Cusco, Peru, supporting the His Coat Ministry, which provides winter coats to children in vulnerable Andean communities while creating opportunities for evangelism, discipleship, and partnership with local indigenous churches. Over the past several years, FBCEP has participated in vision trips and mission teams, serving alongside local ministry leaders in schools, orphanages, churches, and indigenous villages both in and outside the city of Cusco. These partnerships have strengthened Gospel outreach and expanded opportunities for discipleship and church planting throughout the region.
As FBCEP prepares to return to Peru in Spring of 2027 in partnership with John Briceño and the Coat Project Ministry, we remain committed to supporting the impactful Gospel work taking place throughout Cusco and the surrounding Andean communities. Looking ahead, our 2027-2031 Global Missions Strategy calls us to intentionally engage unreached and underserved communities through partnerships with local leaders, including Hna. Marcelina reaching indigenous unreached people groups. So, as part of that vision, we are prayerfully exploring and developing a Spring Break 2027 mission initiative focused on evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, and church planting among indigenous villages with limited access to the Gospel.

MISSION WORK
- Coat Outreach – Distribute winter coats and share the Gospel in Cusco and surrounding villages.
- Church Revitalization – Support a local church through evangelism, discipleship, ministry activities, and light improvements.
- Indigenous Outreach – Serve alongside Hna. Marcelina in villages with limited Gospel access.
- Church Planting – Support efforts to establish new churches among unreached people groups.
- Cultural & Vision Experience – Strengthen team relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the region through visits to Machu Picchu.
