Mission

To ensure that no child in the remote Peruvian mountains goes cold during the harsh winter months. The harsh winters in the Peruvian mountains can be unforgiving, and for many of these children, the simple luxury of a brand new coat is a rare and treasured experience. Most of them have never received anything brand new in their lives. The gift of a new coat not only provides warmth but also instills a sense of pride and dignity in these young hearts. It tells them that the world cares about their well-being and believes in their potential.

Overview

In 2024 a group of 12 missionaries from FBCEP joined John Michael Briceno on a mission to Cusco, Peru. John -who was an international student at UTEP and a member here at FBC- saw a big need in Peru and began a ministry providing coats to children living in underprivileged areas in Cusco, where winters are particularly harsh. Since  2021, John has given out over 8,000 coats. Each brand-new coat costs approximately $20, and in 2024 we distributed over 1,000 in several villages. This trip opens the door for evangelism allowing for ministry in homes, schools, and orphanages, as well as to participate in VBS with unreached indigenous communities where the gospel message needs to be proclaimed. The goal is to build partnerships with local indigenous churches for long-term evangelism, church planting, and discipleship efforts. This trip is ideal for: adults and young adults.
