Overview
The city of Luque is enclosed with Asuncion (the capital city of Paraguay) and has over 291,000 citizens. 90% percent of the population professes Roman Catholicism; however, it is often mixed with superstitions and practices derived from the ancient Guaraní deities. Luque offers a truly global opportunity for individuals who desires to reach the nations for Christ. A new church is being planted by Primera Iglesia Bautista Luque in a new developing community and this area is in dire need of missionaries. The door to the hearts of the people of Luque is opened, “They are hungry and receptive to the gospel.” Perhaps God is calling you to reach out to the Paraguayan people and show them that He has not forgotten them! Will you share the good news of God’s all-encompassing love and hope for everyone in Luque, Paraguay?
Partners
Since 2023 and 2024 missionaries from FBCEP in Partnership with First Baptist Church Decatur, have served in mission trips with Primera Iglesia Bautista (Rev. Roberto Lugo) and Esperanza Viva (Rev. Stephen Bourdette). First Baptist Luque has a church planting DNA and have planted 4 churches in last 20 years, among which is our other partner church Esperanza Viva. Likewise, Primera Iglesia Bautista runs an elementary school providing Christian education to underprivileged children, and there is great opportunity to share the gospel with the students as well as with their parents. Another partner in Luque is the Baptist seminary led by pastor Roberto Lugo where there is opportunity to minister with the seminary students.
What will you be doing?
- Participating in House-to-house evangelism.
- Primera Iglesia Bautista Luque and Esperanza Viva has designed a house-to-house evangelism outreach as patterned in Acts 5:42.
- They know this is possible with intentional efforts to systematically reach every household.
- Church members are challenged to witnessed to their family, neighbors, coworkers, etc.
- We will join them in this intentional house-to-house evangelism outreach.
- We will share our testimony to individuals or families in homes, that a member of the two churches has already prearranged and has been praying for their salvation.
- Outreach in elementary and high schools
- Primera Iglesia Bautista Luque and Esperanza Viva churches practice an intentional outreach at several local elementary and high schools.
- The schools have opened doors for us to go and visit with the kids and share the gospel with them.
- Students are very excited with our visits and receptive to the gospel.
- We will also invite students to attend a youth night rally at the two churches that’s another good opportunity to continue ministering into their lives.
- Outreach to children and parents at the Luque First Baptist Elementary School.
- Few years ago, the church repurpose the parsonage and began a kindergarten school. After several years they now have up the 5th elementary and will grow through 7th grades. This is a great opportunity to provide Christian education to underprivileged children.
- We will visit the school to share with the children, pray and offer VBS activities.
- We will participate in a retreat with the children and parents.
- We will share topics on Christian parenting.
- Support and participate in a new church planting initiative
- Primera Iglesia Luque has a church planting DNA. They have already planted four churches around the city. Recently the Lord gave pastor Roberto Lugo the vision to plant a new church in a developing residential area. The church already purchased a property in the area that FBCEP and First Baptist Church Decatur are partnering to help pay.
- We will have the opportunity to go, and prayer walk on the property and begin looking into plans for building a tent where they can start developing outreach activities.
- We will walk around and visit new families that have already moved in the area.
- Participate in a youth rally on Saturday night & worship at two churches on Sunday morning
- Visit historical colonial sites, shop in Luque’s jewelry market, and dine at a great Brazilian steakhouse
