INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FELLOWSHIP

The International Student Fellowship of First Baptist Church is a ministry of hospitality to international students and community members in the El Paso area. UTEP currently has over 1,900 international students from 69 countries and there are many more at El Paso Community College, Texas Tech Medical Center not to mention internationals working in our community. The world has truly come to El Paso.

The International Student Fellowship (ISF) has been offering friendship and practical help to international students, scholars, and their families in the greater El Paso area since 2010. We are sponsored by First Baptist Church of El Paso.

Students from all religious and ethnic backgrounds are invited to participate in all ISF activities.

FURNITURE AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS NEEDED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Every year, hundreds of international students arrive in El Paso from around the globe to study at UTEP, EPCC and in other programs. They frequently arrive with just one suitcase and find themselves in an empty apartment. Every semester, the International Student Fellowship of FBC organizes a Furniture and Home Goods Giveaway as students are arriving to welcome them to El Paso and to share the love and the life of Jesus with them as we provide for basic needs in their lives.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  1. Donate gently used items that you would be happy to see your own child use if they were away from home. See the list of needed items below. We accept donations year-round and pick them up from your home if necessary, although it’s very helpful for you to bring the items to FBC.
  2. Help with the pickup of items from donors and the delivery of items to students (especially if you have a truck!) This year’s Give Away will be held on Saturday, August 14, and we always need help delivering furniture to students’ apartments.
  3. Create a “Welcome Basket” with essential household items for a new student. Create the basket as an individual or along with members of your Sunday School class. Suggested items are listed below and should cost about $25. We provide the basket!
  4. Become an International Student Fellowship (ISF) Team Member. Help organize events and develop relationships with students from around the world!
