This community outreach ministry will look a little different this year due to COVID-19. Out of caution we will not ask for donated items as we have in the past but rather are planning for financial donations. The necessary items will then be purchased with these funds and distributed. We will partner with Mata's Produce to provide vouchers for turkey and eggs. We ask that you pray for this important outreach effort as the need will be greater this year than in years past. Although Thanksgiving will be different for many families this year; together we can share the hope and love that only comes through Jesus Christ. Each basket costs $50 in total. You can choose to donate the full cost of a basket or a portion of the cost. Every little bit helps! To donate, use the form on our Give page and designate your gift for Thanksgiving Baskets.
As a family of faith it is our duty and privilege to share Jesus with the world and this is our opportunity to put the “giving" back in Thanksgiving. True gratitude leads to a genuine desire to serve and First Baptist is full of opportunities to do just that. In spite of the current pandemic most ministries continue to thrive and offer a variety of ways for individuals to participate. This emphasis will allow our church family to discern where and how they can serve. Opportunities are available for all skill levels and every area of interest. Let us pray that God will move in our hearts and create a burning desire to serve our church, our community and the world.
Angel Tree is going virtual; due to the current pandemic this is the best option. Angel Tree Ministries will provide us with a web link. Once there you can select a child (angel) you wish to adopt; searchable by age, gender, etc. Then select a donation amount of either $22 or $42 per child. At the $22 sponsorship level, the package will include a $20 gift card (retailer TBD), the prisoner-parent message, a message of the Gospel and a free Bible. At the $42 sponsorship level, the package will include a $40 gift card and the same items mentioned above. (The extra $2 will be applied to shipping, handling and total overhead.) Angel Tree will do all the caregiver verification calls to confirm address, children's names, ages, etc. After Christmas, the list of the children we adopted will be forwarded to the church in order to continue our year-round ministry with the families. Be in prayer for the Angel Tree Ministry team, the families we will serve, and for lives to be changed through the love and life of Jesus Christ.
b warm blanket drive
Please be praying for for the Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation as they plan their upcoming B Warm Blanket drive. For several years they have been seeking to promote awareness within our community about the need to provide relief to those seeking help during the winter months. We are praying and planning to participate in this drive as we seek to help our community stay warm through this approaching winter.
